Dark Messiah wraps a dull story around repetitive combat. It's not a bad game, but its technical glitches really bring it down.

The Might and Magic universe dates all the way back to 1986. In those 20 years, we've seen plenty of different games on plenty of different platforms, but most of them have fallen squarely into the turn-based strategy or role-playing sectors. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, from Ubisoft and Arkane Studios, doesn't really fall into either of those categories. Like Arkane's previous game, Arx Fatalis, this is a first-person game. But Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is extremely light on the role-playing, instead focusing its energy on sword-swinging, magic-fireball-shooting action. Unfortunately, the action gets repetitive quickly, and the game's often-transparent storyline doesn't pick up any of the slack.

Anyone who is big into SNES games needs no formal introduction to Bomberman. For the uninitiated, HudsonSoft's Super Bomberman and kindred are to this day revered by legions of gamers, who fervently laud the series for offering the finest palm-sweating multiplayer action available. Now the doe-eyed detonator and his mine-crazy pals have their fuses lit for a different occasion. Interplay Productions has recently received license to release a new addition to the series, Atomic Bomberman for the PC. With the imminent release of Sega's Saturn Bomberman, will Atomic Bomberman have enough ingenuity to blow away an audience of PC users? Given the numerous new features added to the game, the answer is "most likely."

Full: Most of the basic game model has remained constant in Atomic Bomberman. Each player begins in an isolated portion of a top-down, single-frame map. Players then begin to strategically lay down bombs, destroying portions of the map until pathways to their competitors are eventually formed. Exploding these barriers yields a variety of random power-ups from speed boots to triggered-bombs. Once the path is clear and players have acquired all the necessary power-ups, they can begin concentrating on finding their friends - and blowing them to pieces.

To add to the cute dementia of the original, Interplay will present the new Mr. Bomberman in 3-D rendered SVGA colors. As an extra bonus, when a competitor is obliterated, one of several humorous death animations may overtake said enemy - his head may blow up, his corpse crumble to ashes, or his body suffer a grisly immolation.

Besides getting gory, Bomberman will become a little surly in the PC version. Thrusting a fatal bomb at an opponent, your character now shrieks taunts like "All right, tough guy!" and "Your ass is grass!" Picking up an extremely potent power-up might elicit an exclamatory "That's it - time for 'Zen-Bomberman'!" Atomic Bomberman will also feature new power-ups, such as jelly bombs, super-soakers, and multi-bomb droppers. And the game will allow a throng of ten bombermen to compete at once over the usual channels, LAN and modem, and Interplay is hoping to get Internet support up and running before the game's release.

Fans of the Bomberman series who are growing up into the world of personal computers will find Atomic Bomberman a novel addition. But until its release in May, the SNES generation will have to wait with fuses held vigilantly.

Indeed, F1 Challenge is to be the final installment of this superb franchise. Whether it is resurrected in the distant future is anyone's guess, but it is most assuredly gone for some time to come. According to EA, "The license was up, and we chose not to renew." According to its growing fan base, which has come to view F1 as the most authentic depiction of open-wheeled racing on any gaming platform--and leagues ahead of anything played on a console system--the end came far too soon. The good news is that EA and Image Space have given us a really big finale that is already the subject of numerous third-party modifications.

Avencast: Rise of the Mage [RELOADED]

Describing Avencast: Rise of the Mage is a bit tricky. This role-player relies on WASD controls, but it doesn't have the nonstop action of a typical action role-playing game. Quests feature standard go-fetch objectives, although they're often jazzed up with adventure game puzzles. And while the plot strays into world-saving Dungeons & Dragons clichés, it begins with a bored teen mage doing the Hogwarts thing. With so much cross-genre experimentation, it's difficult to figure out what the developer was trying to get at, although the one thing you can say is that this grab bag of RPG styles comes together remarkably well.

TiNYiSO released a whole bunch of tiny, mostly childish arcade games tonight. My Farm is one of them - a 100 meg simulator of life at the farm with crazy animated graphic. If you like to do something as foolish as taking care of hens or cows, go for it, otherwise save your time for something more meaningful.

Are you ready to take on the challenge of becoming the most famous-cyber farmer in the country? Well, with My Farm you can. Breed hens, ducks, turkeys, pigs, sheep and cows and sell your farm produce to build the most successful and beautiful farm ever! Start off with one, single little hen, an empty field and a few pennies. Once your hen starts laying eggs, sell them to the Shopkeeper so you can start buying new animals at the Penny Fair, to grow your farm bit by bit.

Be careful to feed and look after your animals well though, or you risk them going elsewhere! In time, you can expand your farm by adding items like a henhouse, a pond, a drinking trough, sheep barn and so on. And, little by little, you can earn bonuses, like a windfall, a rooster, a dog, a tractor, and more!

Sonic Adventure DX is essentially a port of the original Sonic Adventure, which launched alongside the Dreamcast in September 1999, but Sonic Team has thrown in a few extras to entice those who played the Dreamcast version and to extend the replay value of the game as a whole. Unfortunately, if you've already played the Dreamcast version, these extras definitely aren't worth your money. For everyone else, Sonic Adventure definitely has its moments, and some aspects of the game have held up reasonably well over the years, but it still has its fair share of problems, ranging from an unstable frame rate to some inconsistent collision detection.

Full: Sonic Adventure DX is structured a little differently than its sequel, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, in that there's a hub area that Sonic and the other characters in the game have to find their way through to access the actual levels. The portions of the game that focus on this hub area seem a little pointless at times, particularly when all you have to do is take a key from one location to another, but most of the time it simply functions as a tool for advancing the plot.

Brash Entertainment has announced that Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm, RV) and Patrick Warburton (Bee Movie, Seinfeld) will be lending their voices for the upcoming Space Chimps video game based on the upcoming animated film.

"I think it is really fun to have a video game that goes along with the movie," explained Cheryl Hines, who voices Luna in Space Chimps the game and the film. "It gives fans a chance to be part of the movie by playing as their favorite characters, while exploring new adventures."

Space Chimps the game will be released July 15 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS and Wii platforms. The movie hits theaters on July 18.

Both new versions will have Forever added to their name, and will be network compatible.TrackMania Nations Forever will include the new Stadium blocks and physics system introduced in TMU, allowing players of TMUF and TMNF to play on the same (Stadium) servers.

Full: Nadeo has stated they wanted to give the game a long life, and is therefore working on the engine and user interface, instead of adding new content. TMUF for instance will no longer require the disc in the drive due to different copy protection and anti-cheat systems. They also warn players some features may not make the final versions.

It's better than the original Aliens vs. Predator, and it's one of the best action games released so far this year.

In lieu of the traditional review preamble, here's the answer to the question you're probably wondering about: Yes, Aliens vs. Predator 2 lets you save anywhere. In fact, the first game is so notorious for its end-of-level-only save system that the sequel has become the first shooter to proudly list its unrestricted save feature right on the box.

Full: Monolith, taking over the series from UK-based developer Rebellion, has also added a few other things that the first game lacked, such as a compelling campaign structure, an in-game server browser, some interesting multiplayer modes, and the ability to play all the various Alien life stages. About the only thing it managed to screw up was the unimpressive single-player demo released a couple of months ago. So in answer to your second question: Yes, Aliens vs. Predator 2 is better than its demo. It's better than the demo, it's better than the original Aliens vs. Predator, and it's one of the best action games released so far this year.

Rogue Trooper - Rip

Rogue Trooper is drawn from the character of the British Comic 2000AD. Apparently, outside of the UK this is an almost unknown comic, so therefore the game had to come across as an entity on its own. The backstory, luckily, does include some of the ‘history’ of the character; how he and his kind were ambushed at The Quartz Zone Massacre, betrayed by one of their own Generals.

Rogue is a genetically engineered fighting machine (from test tubes), specially designed for the toxic atmosphere of Nu Earth, one of the galaxy’s most deadly war-zones. He is the only survivor of the massacre, goes A.W.O.L and sets out to hunt down the traitor general and bring him to justice. During the massacre, three of his G.I. buddies are killed, and Rogue removes their bio chips and places them in his gear. Bagman is put in his backbag, Gunnar is placed in his Gun and Helm is put in his Helmet. Their consciousness carries on, and as well as cracking bad jokes, they all play a part in helping Rogue on his vendetta.

In CTU Marine Sharpshooter, you take on the role of, you guessed it, a marine sharpshooter. A group of terrorists is in possession of the potential to make a nuclear weapon and you and your spotter have been sent in to find out what's going on and put a stop to it. Along the way, you'll visit such "exotic locales" as Afghanistan, Chechnya and the jungles of the Pacific islands. You'll be the sniper on the mission, with a single marine buddy to back you up.

You'll progress through each of the game's fairly small and linear levels endeavoring to shoot just about anything that moves. When you're out in the open, it's relatively easy to take out your opponents before they're even aware you're there. This is what being a sniper is about, after all. When you're in tunnels or warehouses, it's still just as easy to take out the enemies, but sniping from a mere thirty yards away seems a bit silly. You have a pistol for these situations but it's so much less powerful than the sniper rifle, that you'll almost never use it.......

Full: America is a Wild West-themed real-time strategy game from German developer Data Becker. Although the setting of the game is distinctive, and some of the specific mechanics of play are fairly interesting, there is actually very little in America that isn't taken straight from other older, better real-time strategy games. More specifically, America is a plainly obvious attempt at borrowing the successful elements of the popular historical-themed game Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings. Unfortunately for America, its attempts to replicate the graphics, sound, gameplay, and balance of Ensemble Studios' excellent strategy game simply don't add up.

First off, you should know that this is a game that simply demands you play it with a gamepad, and unsurprisingly, the Xbox 360 controller proves to be ideal. This necessity is driven by the fact that Top Spin has always offered a slightly more technical game of tennis than Sega's standard-bearing Virtua Tennis franchise, though it's still quite easy to pick up. You've got four basic swings, including the aptly named safe swing, which will never go out of bounds, though the other three shot types require a bit more finesse to keep inside the lines. The slice shot flies low and fast and is great for crossing up your opponent; the topspin shot flies straight and bounces high but moves fast and can slip right past opponents who aren't on their toes; and the lob shot, which should be used sparingly, can be very potent against aggressive opponents apt to ride the net.
